Course Description:

This course will be offered by Centre for Continuing Education, constituent of Ganpat University. Geriatric care provides an opportunity to explore the area of Gerontology, that focuses on the care of older adults. The course presents the unique health care needs of the older adult and introduces students to nursing approaches to managing those needs. This course provides an overview of the biology, sociology and psychology of aging, aging process, risk factors that affect the health and functioning of elderly patients to determine best practices This course is designed to correlate theory and clinical practice in providing care to the geriatric population.

• Demonstrates skills in management of geriatric services provide quality care to older adults and their families
• Recognize and manage common health problems of older persons including geriatric syndromes
